Digital artist and painter / Raglan
The ideas for Jane Galloway’s limited edition prints begin with two primary sources of inspiration: the natural environment around her home town of Raglan and the styles of international fabrics and wallpapers. Her favourite designers are the flamboyant Valentino and Scottish duo Timorous Beasties as well as past artists from post-war Europe.
Says Jane, “While I enjoy painting landscapes, the excitement of drawing inspiration from design history and combining it with New Zealand themes means a constant mix of ideas is always percolating. Each season is an opportunity to create something new, play with different styles and see what develops. I have been asked many times if my designs are available as fabrics, especially by people who want to faithfully redecorate older homes, so on that level they work too. This would be a future project if I could only find more than 24 hours in a day .”
Jane graduated from Elam with First Class Honours, majoring in oil painting. She exhibits mainly in the Waikato, specialising in landscapes of the Waikato, Coromandel and Bay of Plenty.
